Finally experiencing them on real machine format should be fun. The FX3 SW and Marvel games have the advantage of being designed for digital - so they use some crazy effects and layouts that are a bit strange and a bit of a novelty to pinball fans who played on physical machine. The characters are absolutely iconic, but beyond the Avengers theme that plays when all the characters line up ahead of a big battle (or when surprise reinforcements arrive) or the Spider-Man theme song, do we really have any emotional response to the music or sound effects to Marvel? Marvel - well, the fan base is a little fragmented with the MCU and the comics following different paths, and with so much history, players won’t be as easily understand what’s going on. and we haven’t even mentioned the characters. Without even getting into the gameplay, there’s so much about the franchise that’s iconic - the music, the sound effects. I think Star Wars will probably be an easier fit for casual pinball and franchise fans. One will live at my home and the other at the grandparents’ rec room. I’m on the fence between SW and Marvel- but I preordered both anyway (from WM). Personally, I’d love a Gauntlet cabinet or a Dungeons and Dragons cabinet, but a girl can dream, right?

Once the Dragon’s Lair cabinet comes out, we will have the perfect collection of games we enjoy playing in our game room. Having our own little arcade has been a dream of ours and Arcade1Up has made that possible. We both work super hard and enjoy playing video games at home.

Seeing how relieved and excited my husband was when I told him I preordered it for his birthday made the cost 10000% worth it. The Walmart preorder link that was shared the other day really helped seal the deal. When I found out my husband really wanted both Marvel and Star Wars pinball machines, I preordered the Star Wars cabinet for his birthday. Bummed that it didn’t come with Infinity War but hoping it’ll become available as a DLC/add-on package in the future.
#Arcade1up star wars pinball delayed Ps4
We played the original zen pinball games on PS4 so it was an easy decision. The voice acting and the stories are super cheesy, but the tables are fun. We originally purchased Marvel pinball and have been happy with it. I would say X-Men feels a lot like Theatre of Magic to me. X-Men, FI and Thor capture this fairly well, and FF comes pretty close (just hate the Storm ramp that leads nowhere). I like the Medieval Madness or Monster Bash style with multiple lanes, where I can really get on a roll. It's a little too herky-jerky for my tastes and it's difficult to get a rhythm going. Venom and Ghost Rider are perfectly fine, I'm just not a fan of the split-playfield style of game. Wolverine is up there, but maybe a step below the aforementioned. X-Men, Thor, Fear Itseld and FF are the best of the lot, IMHO. The reality is they just don't capture the depth, complexity and magic of some of the Williams greats, but we already knew that going in. Some of the tables are very good, some are fair, only a couple are downright terrible (why we got the god-awful Civil War over the fantastic Captain America, I will never understand). I haven't played the SW tables in the A1U format yet so I can only speak to Marvel. But from a purely gameplay perspective AFM is BY FAR the best. I don't see anything wrong with buying the Star Wars or Marvel machines if you really dig either franchise.

#Arcade1up star wars pinball delayed movie
It might be fun to just snack the ball around and hear call-outs from the movie but that ain't the real Luke etc.īut if you play AFM.get a multiball going and then have it scream Jackpot! Jackpot! Jackpot! And eventually Suuuuuupppppper Jackpot! That real gets the blood flowing. You'll rarely see a Bally / Williams title have you hit the same shot so many times for so little feedback.Īnd don't get me started on the licensing compromises made.

AFM has similar shot accumulation to start Total Annihilation, but at least you get a cool sound bite when you shoot Big O Beam etc. There are literally tables where you hit a lights a letter.and nothing else. And until I spell them nothing happens.and even if I spell them nothing all that interesting happens. Meaning sure 'Tusken' is a Star Wars word but it also seems like you just needed a six letter word for that ramp. When I look at the majority of the Star Wars tables I see bland loops where I'm asked to spell random words that don't always even seem all that relevant.
